In the last article on how anyone could plant a church I want to make one thing clear. There is a big difference between saying something is simple and saying something is easy. I didn’t say it would be easy. I did say it should be simple. There are simple things that are really hard to do…planting a church is one of them.
One of the most successful church planters I know trains church planters and he always makes sure to tell them that if you go with house church planting that you can expect suffering. He trains them in ways to help them endure persecution so that the gospel is persecution proof.
You can expect persecution. Maybe not quite to the degree we see around the world but it will happen.
Sometimes people are attracted to house church because of the problems it alleviates with “big church.” But you have to know that house churches have issues too and you have to be aware of them. There will never not be problems. For instance, now church is in your neighborhood. That is going to affect your neighbors. Now your mission field is in your neighborhood. That is going to affect your neighbors. Also, when your kingdom impact grows, Satan is going to do his best to knock you back. You can count on it.
So I don’t want you to hear me say planting a church is easy. It isn’t always easy. But it should be simple and most people don’t think it is simple enough to be doable. Because of that too few people are trying even though God has laid it on their heart to try.
