Here are the five…what would you add?
1 – Intergenerational connection. This is the primary factor for our kids having lifelong faith. Very easy to do. Less siloed ministry, more connection.
2 – Celebration! When good things happen, celebrate together per 1 Cor 12.
3 – Confession. We are told to confess but often the time to do it (invitation) is the least effective. We are asking people to do something very private in a room full of people they don’t know. The invitation rarely produces fruit. So get intentional about encouraging confession a private level. Instead of “come down front…” maybe more like “find someone to talk with today…”
4 – Spontaneity – don’t control everything. Leave room to get out of the way.
5 – Dialog. Sermons don’t tend to be memorable because the only person 100% invested in it is the preacher. And sometimes when I was preaching, I couldn’t tell you what I preached on a few weeks ago at times. Turn lecture notes into questions, generate discussion…this buy in will help people invest and remember. Check the Greek on Acts 20:7 on “Paul spoke”!
