We Must Put the Work of the Church in the Hands of the “Ordinary” Christians

The Bible you have in your hand is there in part due to the work of William Tyndale.

Once, a Catholic scholar John Walsh confronted Tyndale over his work and Tyndale told him,

“If God spare my life ere many years, I will cause a boy that driveth the plow, shall know more of the Scripture than thou dost.”

Tyndale was putting the Bible into the language of the people because the Bible had been kept in Latin and that kept the interpretation and presentation of the scriptures anchored in the church clergy.

Here is what I would like to see…a similar movement when it comes to the work of the church. That the work of the church be put in the hands of the whole church. That the “priesthood of all believers” be truly lived out. And that means that local churches train their own people in the work of the church.

And Bible class is not training. Sermons aren’t training. Small groups aren’t training…maybe someone is doing that but it isn’t done by many.

And that leaves the work of the church to the preacher and staff to a large degree and that has left the church unbalanced and unhealthy.

Now, once you tell a preacher he needs to equip the church, that preacher is left wondering how on earth they are going to spend the time to keep doing what they are doing and train people…that takes even more time!

So here is what I am proposing. This all points to the online training I have built that is built to help everyday Christians learn the simple skills needed to do the work of the church.

This is packaged in a way that individual Christians can jump in or church leadership can take their whole church through the training. over the course of 12 months.
