Old Paths – Jeremiah 6:16

You often see reference made to Jeremiah 6:16 in people’s approach to restoring New Testament Christianity. “This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.'”

What is interesting to me about that is that in context, Jeremiah is appealing to God’s people to go back to living by the Law of Moses. That doesn’t take anything away from the point that often we have to look for something old ahead of looking for something new but it is an interesting thing to point out.
