What if we dropped Sunday morning Bible class for a week or even a month and asked people to pray for the full hour before coming to the worship service? I wonder if we might rely a little more on God and a little less on self. How do you think people would react?

I don’t think it’s a bad idea, however, it could cause an uproar. Can you imagine people getting mad because they were asked to pray?
Matt, I have no idea about Christians in the USA, but most church goers here in Australia would find it very difficult to pray for a whole hour in a group setting.. My previous church has a week of Prayer once a quarter during small group time and attendance is down that week
If people are unable or unwilling to pray for an hour but have no trouble showing up for 1-2 hours of “church” on Sunday it probably teaches us a little something about what they have been taught church is.
I think you’d have to surprise people with it.
I would have to agree with Wendy and say that most Christians that I know would not be able to pray for a solid hour.
