AFA Got it Wrong on the Department of Defense and is Unapologetic

In the previous post, I mentioned the US Army blocking the Southern Baptist Convention website. Turns out the AFA, who put out the alert I based that post on, was wrong about a few things. You can read the first Alert here and the correction here. They claimed this was an attack on Christianity. Turns […]

US Army Blocks Southern Baptist Convention Website

I got an email today from the American Family Association saying that the Army had blocked the Southern Baptist Convention website calling it, “just another example of the Christian faith coming under attack in the military.” I hate to say it but I think being attacked by the US military would look considerably different than […]

AFA Boycott Idea

In follow up to the previous post about how I think it is a crummy idea to boycott business just because they won’t use the word, “Christmas” I have a better idea. Why doesn’t the AFA boycott businesses that use the word “Christmas” that don’t uphold Christian values. The idea behind this would be the […]

Am I the Grinch?

I got my annual AFA “Would you boycott non-Christmas stores this holiday season” email today. I took the poll and said, “No” that I would not be willing to boycott stores that don’t use Christmas in their advertising. Turns out there were 22,471 “Yes” votes (98.7%) and 298 “No” votes (1.3%) at the time. Ouch. […]

AFA Tattles on Subway

I got an email today from the American Family Association notifying me that Subway restaurants are not allowing home schooled students to participate in their contest for $5000 in athletic equipment. When I get these kinds of emails I cannot help but wonder if this is an atrocity big enough to warrant a mass email […]

AFA boycott of Ford – a closer look

This is a bit off the normally beaten path of what I post here so feel free to just skip over it. This is meant to be constructive criticism and not a harsh attack because I do respect the AFA (as will be obvious from what follows). I got another action alert from the AFA. […]

Christian Boycotts and Paul’s Take on Eating Meat

I don’t know about you but I am emailed about something we should boycott on a regular basis. Being Christmas time it becomes even more intense. At this time of year it is normally about which stores are not using the word “Christmas” in their promotional material. I just want to make a couple of […]

To Speak or Not to Speak – Bearing Witness in Acts 5

God’s power is once again evident in the opening of Acts 5 with the story of Ananias and Sapphira. Remember, Luke didn’t use chapter divisions and while this is a different story his theme is the same – God is accomplishing his purposes in a very visible way despite opposition. Chapter 1 – Jesus comissioning […]

TNIV – Headings and Subheadings

Is it just me or does the TNIV appear to have sub-headings under some of the titles. I have only noticed this in the Old Testament and only in the minor prophets. Here is a very clear example: Zephaniah 2:1 (View it here – https://www.tniv.info/pdf/TNIV_NewTestament.pdf on p.642) Main Heading (bigger font) – “Judah and Jerusalem […]
