Each Saturday night I take some time to pray for Sunday. Sometimes I pray by myself but usually it is on a zoom with a handful of people who want to see God move on Sunday. It is a practice that we have done for over two years.
There are a number of things that we pray for. We pray for things like:
God to move
God to be glorified
Miracles to happen
A harvest to happen and us to go into the field
The Holy Spirit to move powerfully
Hearts and minds to be opened
The body to be encouraged
Ministries around the world
Disciples to be made
Churches to be planted
The goodness of God to be made known
New people to come…and much, much more!
It is almost Sunday and so we pray.
Prayer is a powerful way to get yourself in tune with the movement of God. Prayer is also a way to keep your heart soft, your eyes open and your ears attuned to the voice of Jesus (John 10). We pray because God is moving and we don’t want to miss what He is doing.
If you haven’t prayed for Sunday, I encourage you to do that tonight. And do it again the next week and the next week and the next week. Invite others to join you on zoom! You will begin to see God move in ways that may or may not have always been happening…but now you have the eyes to see it and the ears to hear it!
