If you had to pick one commentary, which is your favorite? I know that is hard to pick so if you want to do favorite Old Testament and favorite New Testament that works! Here are mine:
OT: Robert Alter’s “The Book of Psalms: A Translation with Commentary”
NT/Overall: Ben Witherington’s 1 & 2 Corinthians Commentary

Frederick Bruner – 2 volumes on Matthew
Francois Bovon – 3 volumes on Luke or better his book Luke the Theologian
Thanks Rusty! I just picked up Bruner’s Matthew and John commentaries…from what I have seen so far they are excellent! I haven’t heard of Bovon’s.
