Over the last few years I have been praying for God to help me with making disciples. He has come through over and over again. It has left me convicted that I need to share what I am learning along the way. There are lots of people who want to start but don’t know what to do. If you are like most people, me included, you never had any formal discipleship so you don’t really know what it looks like.
As I have prayed and worked at making disciples God keeps showing up. God keeps showing the way. He has sent people to help me…people like Bobby Harrington, Shodankeh Johnson and Curtis Sergeant to teach skills and biblical principles about discipleship and making disciples.
I am not an expert but I am trying. I am going to be passing on what I am learning and hopefully creating space for a community to develop where we can encourage each other along the way!
Here are the two big reasons for the change:
1) I had so many hats before with Wineskins, church planting and discipleship that I felt scattered and unproductive. I was beginning to feel unfaithful to what God was showing me. So I am pouring more into local work and sharing the overflow of that when I can.
2) this local work is driven by love – love of neighbor which is core of making disciples. Without love it is all process and procedure that will be shallow.
So thanks for hanging in there with me on this! Faithfulness matters and you can only go so long feeling unfaithful in the journey. So here we go!
