God did not put us in this world to live a life of fear. The more you get to know God the more you come to realize that God has made preparations for things 1000 years from now…and for today too!
Often our fear comes from uncertainty and our apparent lack of control.
The good news is this – God is certain and God has control and God is not afraid. We shouldn’t be either.
Let go of the fear because God is faithful.
Let go of the fear because God loves you so much – he won’t hang you out to dry. 1 John 4:18 says, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear…the one who fears is not made perfect in love.”
Maybe your fear comes out of worry about rejection – about being known and rejected. I just had a conversation about that earlier today. Many people fear this. God knows you better than you know yourself and he wants you!
Some of us have grown too comfortable with fear and have no idea what life is like on the other side. It is all we know – the unknown (life without fear) is too scary! Maybe you have been conditioned by anxious parents, bad outcomes and decisions, pain, loss, broken trust…that letting go of fear is like letting go of your safety net. But I can assure you things on the other side of the fear are better than you can imagine. It is time to let it go!

I think some of that fear was created to get people to act in a certain way. Sure, as a kid the fear of punishment was used to get you to behave, but then that morphed into instilling fear of hell, physical punishment, failing, being fired, etc. and got you to do whatever was desired much like a circus animal. At a point you become a lot more animal and less human especially when you were told you would never be good enough. It became the norm to try to succeed while scared and belittled. In the eyes of those who instilled that fear, you performed better, you jumped higher, you worked later, you ignored friends and family, but you delivered and the more the fear and the harsher the threat, the harder you worked until a point. The same thing happened in religion, the better you toed the line to get everything right and the harder you worked to maintain the hard-line doctrine, the better your chances of avoiding hell.
