1. 1Ti 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without WRATH and DOUBTING

   Wrath is Orge or orgy: Paul didn’t command men to SPEAK but to pray for peace and quietness by all. Orge like strong delusions is poured on people who reject the LOGOS as admitting no additions.

   He told the women to be silent.

   The purpose for everyone to be quiet or silent commanded from the church in the wilderness onward was so that

   1Tim. 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

   Perhaps men are working too hard to make a role for women which does not exist for men because elders as the Christ-Apt pastor teachers are commanded to “Teach that which has been taught.”

   Women were to be silent because they served as oracles in their old paganism and believed that their wine or music-induced gibberish was a god speaking through her. That was from the Oracle at Delphi just up the road from Corinth and the center for Apollo, Abaddon or Apollyon the leader of the muses.

   1Tim. 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

   In Isaiah 58 Christ outlawed seeking our own pleasure or even speaking our own words. I wouldn’t expect that people who are in the “business” to ever confess that.

   Ekklesia, qahal, synagogue or Church of Christ (the Rock) is, as the Campbells taught, A School of Christ in the Word.

   That is pure speculation but let’s say you are right…that what was going on there was that a few years back these ex-pagan, now Christian women were bringing pagan practices into the church and Paul was condemning that…what does that mean for us today if that was situational, as you are saying?

The reason that both men and women are to be silent and sedentary is by the command for the church in the wilderness and the example of Jesus “He stood up to READ the text and then SAT DOWN.” The synagogue was a READING ASSEMBLY the Lord’s Supper is a teaching or preaching message which should silence any self-speak which violates the LOGOS or Regulative Principle. “Preaching” or kerusso like presbyter is a word for a HERALD who takes the message without changing it.

   Acts 15:21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that PREACH him, being READ in the synagogues every sabbath day.

   1Tim. 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for ALL MEN
   1Tim. 2:2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we [ALL] may lead a QUIET and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
   1Tim. 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
   1Tim. 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved [AND SAFE] and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

   That is the ONE-PIECE PATTERN defined in the wilderness, the prophets, exampled by Jesus, commanded by Paul and practiced until about the fourth century when “telling stories” and acting became more profitable than READING. Look up the word READ or READING.

   Wrath is going orgiastic with wild hand waving, shouting and other ways “to make the lambs dumb before the slaughter.” It is more a MARK than a SIN.
