Looking Into Twitter

I get the gist of twitter but from you more experienced people what tips and tricks can you throw at me?

I added a twitter button to the right sidebar. I guess it is time I get caught up with the rest of the world. John Dobbs told me a couple years ago I needed to do this and I am just figuring out he was right. Thanks John! I also finally got my buttons over there to look at bit more tidy. Thanks html!

  1. Twitter is a crowd of shouting people. The loudest, most popular, most shocking, funniest voices rise to the top. The rest of the masses are lost in a sea of content. I will go so far as to say that you will never be able to make a relational impact on someone via Twitter. It’s too public and messy. It’s a good place to develop a brand, connect with leaders and see trends in the industry. But for social media, the relational impact of Facebook can’t be beat (right now).

  2. I guess I will provide a bit of counterpoint on Twitter. You can do as little or as much with Twitter as you like. I use it to promote my blogs, share scripture, hold bible discussions, as well as encouraging and promoting other brands, with which I have specific interests. There are a lot of multilevel marketers and people selling other stuff, but I have found it to be helfpful.

I use my Twitter accounts to cover a broad number of interests. Because of that I cast a broad net and have a large number of contacts. If I wanted to simply promote a blog, cast a very narrow net and go deep.
