Bible Classes on Grace

December 21st, 2010 · No Comments · Bible, Bible Class, Bible Curriculum, Christianity, Grace

It was pointed out a week or so ago over in the Bible Class Archive that it is hard to find good Bible class material on the topic of grace. There are some great books out there but little material for actually teaching it. Yancey has a participants guide for his book but I don’t want to have to purchase dozens of copies. So first I wanted to ask if any of you know of or have written curriculum on God’s grace in the Old Testament, New Testament or both. Second, I wanted to ask if any of you have written any Bible classes on it that you would like to contribute to the Archive for people to download and use. Last, I am working on my own set of classes on God’s grace and wanted to see what resources you guys have found helpful on that topic. The two main books on my desk are:

What’s So Amazing About Grace by Philip Yancey

The Grace of God by Andy Stanley

What am I missing?

When I am done writing all of this I will be sure to post the lessons.

I know it’s not info that you are looking for, but I find it interesting that Jesus, the embodiment of God’s grace, never once used the word.

No, but when John only gave two descriptors of what Jesus embodied they were grace and truth (John 1:17). Many have been big on the second and slim on the first but you can’t have one without the other.

I just finished The Grace of God and really enjoyed it. Very insightful and easy to go through. Good choice! Make sure to check out the Facebook assessment based off the book if you haven’t already.

The first segment of THE COST OF DISCIPLESHIP by Bonhoeffer.

    The Ragamuffin Gospel

Try not to have a brain explosion if you read both of those at the same time. lol

Matt, I began my study at the very beginning, creation. The language of Genesis is grace filled. Creation was an act of God’s grace. I intend to move forward from there. I am sure you have Googled “Bible Study in Grace”. More lessons and studies than you can ever review. I am looking forward to how you choose to approach the study. It still astounds me that our fellowship seems to have so little to say on grace.
