Happy Last Year of the Decade – 2010!

2. I’m glad to see someone who recognizes that the real end of a decade (or century) is always a year that ends in “0”!

3. I heard a couple of contrary arguments. First, was 1970 part of the 60s or the 70s? Second argument was that our children begin at age “0” and by the time they hit “10” they are beginning their second decade.

   1. We would consider 1970 to be in the 70s. But unless the first decade only had 9 years (1-9 AD) it is really the last year of the decade that began in 1961.

      Birthdays are calculated differently than years on the calendar. We aren’t 1 until we have lived 1 year. But we are in the year 2010 even though it hasn’t been 2010 years since the year 1 until the last day of the year clicks down. Hope that makes sense.
