Parable of the Sea

Dan Kimball mentioned this video this past week on his blog Vintage Faith. It is called the Parable of the Sea and I think it is an excellent and eye opening video about church and what we can unwittingly turn church into. Lately, the word “institution” has been big in online circles in reference to how church has been tamed, subdued or watered down into a form the early Christians may never have even thought of. Check it out and see what you think. I would love to hear your thoughts. Here is the video’s link.

I first heard this illustration while in college (eons ago). It really stuck with me and is one of my favorites. It’s neat that they made a video of it.

    Grace and peace,

    Thought provoking, Matt. Thanks.

I saw this on Dan’s blog too.

You making it to Tulsa this year, Matt?

  4. Jason says:

Wow! First time I have heard of this. But it illustrates our problem all too well, unfortunately. Sometimes we can get so caught up in preparing to attract people that we actually fail to attract them. Thanks for posting this Matt.

    Hey Wes,

No Tulsa for me this year. I would have loved to have gone but things are way too hectic. Enjoy yourself!
