Experiencing God is Even Better Than Hearing About Him

Over the last several months people kept telling us how great babies are and how much he would mean to us. People also said that we could not really understand it or be ready for it until we experienced it for ourselves. The same thing is true about our faith. It is one thing to read about how God worked in the lives of the people in the Bible or someone you know but it is quite another to see him work in your life in a very real way.

In scripture we read about God’s gracious acts toward his people…forgiving sins, rescuing the lost, and bringing victory to His people. But you never really understand how great those things are until you experience them for yourself. In our lives we live daily under the grace of God receiving forgiveness for the things we do wrong, receiving rescue from difficult circumstances, and finding victory over the trials this life brings our way. The Bible is more than a story. It is God’s story and He invites us to come in and experience for ourselves what He has offered to countless generations that have gone before us. Isn’t it great to know that we don’t have to have people tell us about how good God is and how merciful He is but that we can experience those things in a very real way each and every day of our lives.

David wrote in Psalm 34:8 – “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.” Our faith is more than hearing about God. Our faith is an experience so real that you can taste for yourself and see that He is who He says He is and that He is ready and willing to do in our lives what He has done for those who have gone on before us.
