Have People Lost Their Minds?

Helped by this? Tell a Friend! ---->

I don’t usually bring things up of this nature but this really has me pretty upset. Over the last several months there have been some really strange and evil things that have been happening all in the Tampa Bay area that makes me think people have gone crazy and lost their minds.

Here is the short list:

Stephanie Ragusa charged with five counts of lewd and lascivious battery on a 14 year old boy. She met the boy as a teacher at a middle school in Tampa Bay. He was a student and she was a teacher.

Mary Jo Spack, high school honors teacher, took students to a liquor store and then to a hotel to have sex.

Debra Lafave was accused of having sex with a 14 year old student in 2005.

Jaymee Wallace has been accused of having a lesbian affair with one of her high school students in November .

In addition to this short list are several other teachers who have done similar things and also over the last several weeks two stories about two girls 12 and 14 who were dancing at local strip clubs. One of them was taken there by her aunt who did it for a cut of the profit. How was she found out? The girl’s mother went to the club and happened to notice her daughter was one of the dancers! Have we lost our minds?

These are not merely “inappropriate relationships.” These kind of things are evil and can mess up the lives of these children for the rest of their lives. We have to talk more about personal responsibility, integrity, and give some share of the blame to the media who continues to push the envelop even though it is clear that it is making our society deteriorate. If anyone deserves to be charged with “contributing to the delinquency of a minor” it is the entertainment media.

  1. It is appalling; and maybe I am too cynical, but it doesn’t really surprise me anymore. So much of our culture sexualizes youth and even children. Look at children’s beauty pageants. Those things are nothing more than legal, culturally-approved pedophilia.

So in answer to your question Matt, I would say, “Yes, people lost their minds (and their moral sense) a long time ago.”

  2. wow, was that authentic righteous indignation?? i kinda enjoyed it. I just haven’t seen any in a while.

I thought I was only supposed to talk about how big God’s grace and love is without focusing on things being evil, wicked and perverted.
    😉

  3. I just wonder if this is just because we hear about it so much more with technology and the internet. These things have gone on for years. The more things change, the more they stay the same. It just proves that there is a place for Christians in this world daily!

    And yes, people are nuts!
