Letter from a Prisoner

In light of the previous post, Living Out Jesus’ Mission, I wanted to share this letter with you as it was written to me by a brother in Christ who is behind bars. Although he is in prison I can assure you that Jesus has set him free. Keep him in your prayers. Also keep those in your prayers who have posted comments on these two posts (here and here)- others have come by requesting prayers for some serious situations so please have a look and continue to pray.

Hello Brother Matt,

I pray this letter finds you and your family in the best of God’s care, as for me I am blessed as always. Thank you for praying for my release, my parents really need me out there right now as they are on up in age. We had a couple of cold fronts come through here so it was a little cooler out in this desert 🙂 I talked to my mom on the phone and she told me a lot has change in the small town of A…

Being locked up has gotten me closer to the Lord and your lessons have made my walk stronger because there is so much I never knew before about God and His Son Jesus. My family didn’t go to church. I remember when I was young, I used to go to my friend’s house and spend the night just so I could go to church on Sunday’s. When I was 16 years old I got hit by a pickup truck in my parent’s driveway, which hurled me into the highway. As I was laying there I heard a voice telling me it wasn’t my time yet. Get up! I was bleeding out of the back of my head and both elbows, but when I got to the hospital to be x-rayed I had no broken bones and the doctor couldn’t believe I had just been run over by a 1/2 ton pickup truck. I knew then that God was watching over me and He has a plan for my life to be revealed when He thinks I am ready. I just hope I don’t disappoint Him. Well it’s getting late so I’ll close this letter and get it in the mail. Please take good care of yourself and may God continue to bless you as you teach and preach His wonderful word. By for now and write back soon.

Your friend and brother,

Mark
