Responsibility Crisis Among Christians

Helped by this? Tell a Friend! ---->

We have a major responsibility crisis as the body of Christ. For a long time we have referred to this dilemma as the 90/10 rule (90% of the work is done by 10% of the people). The head of the body has asked for us to get some things done but not all the parts of the body are wanting to do anything about it. People assume that someone else will do it. They reason they may make a mistake and so why not let someone who knows what they are doing take care of it. No one wants to take responsibility.

I ran track in High School and as a walk-on at Harding and if there is anything I learned, sprinting cannot be done if the whole body does not work toward making it happen. Sprinting takes the arms, the legs, the feet, the hands, the abs, the back, the chest and shoulders, and even the neck muscles. We have been called to run a race. If only 10% of the body is functioning trying to pull 90% of the weight the body might achieve a slow crawl but certainly not a jog or a run. I hope I don’t sound negative in this post because that is not what I am trying to do. I hope this serves as a reminder to catch those who are serving and let them know how much we appreciate them. I hope we are reminded to help those who want to be involved get involved. And I hope this reminds us to encourage those who have only known life from the pew so that the whole body may be built up and work toward the mission that Jesus has left for us to do.

Being a Christian comes with responsibility.
