This time by Chris Clouse. I was tagged with this same one a week or two ago (see here). I will give it a twist and call it 8 random things I have learned to do since buying my first house last October:
- Install a window
- Case in a window
- Unclog a drain
- Drywall, puddy, primer, paint
- Put a medicine cabinet into a plaster wall
- Install a ceiling fan by myself (that is not fun with only 2 hands)
- Install new electrical outlets
- Install a chainlink fence by myself (another tough one to do with only 2 hands)
I just tagged a whole bunch of folks so I will leave all of you alone this time.

Sounds like your ready to help build houses in the Rio Grande valley.
Oh, and thanks Chris for the tag. I really do appreciate it. I didn’t mean to sound ungrateful. Reading back on it I think I came across a little negative but didn’t mean to at all!
BWH,
Maybe outhouses with windows, trim, and outlets!
Doing a ceiling fan by yourself is no easy task.
Matt,
I think I might have tagged you over at my blog. If I did, ignore it. One of my interestings that I mention about myself is that I would love to see you write a book and be a keynote speaker at one of the big lecutures. Love your blog and keep up the great work brother. God bless.
Thanks for the encouragement.
Don’t worry about sounding ungrateful, I expected it!!!!
Just kidding. But, don’t worry, I didn’t take your response in a negative way. I actually enjoyed your twist and can identify with you in many ways.
We moved into a larger house this past week and have discovered many “honey do” items for me to accomplish over the next couple weeks. I consider myself lucky as each room of the house already has ceiling fans installed and working.
However, I do get to encounter the following: completely redo the drain pipes under the kitchen sink, rewire the telephone lines to the bedroom (while doing this I am going to install a home network for our computers), wire the bedrooms for cable access (this one I don’t understand, it is 2007), tile the bathroom floors, add a privacy fence along the back of our yard and plant several thousand bushes (or perhaps only 10 or so).
If you have time when you finish your list, come join me, I could use your experience. LOL
Thanks for playing.
That sure is a short list! lol
Trust me- it will grow.
Matt … can you come spend a weekend at my house. Some of those things are on my “honey-do” list.
🙂
