The Love of Christ Compels Us

If there was ever a driving force for the Christian it is the love of Christ. When we think about all that Jesus went through on our behalf we begin to understand the depths of the love that Jesus has for us and that God has for us. Some find God hard to believe saying that God has done some bad things in His day…things inconsistent with who He says He is therefore, the reasoning goes, God must not exist. But what keeps us coming back to God is the realization that God, through Christ, was willing to undergo the very worst of humanity himself, in the flesh…suffering, bleeding, dying…while forgiving…showing that his love for us is vast and deep and genuine. You don’t fake love by going to a cross. Only real love goes that far.

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Rom 8:37-39

So they next time you have doubts…the next time you feel like no one loves you, remember Jesus and be encouraged that He loved you then, loves you now and always will. The love of Christ compels us. It compels us to believe in God. It compels us to live for Him. It compels us to love others and to love God as He has first loved us.

What does the love of Christ compel you to do or feel or believe today?
