What has been the most encouraging verse in the Bible to you? Here are some of my favorites:
- 1 Peter 1:3-4 – “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”
- Romans 8:28-39 – “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,[j] who[k] have been called according to his purpose. 29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. 31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? - Psalm 23 – You know it already!
- 2 Corinthians 1:3-7 – “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 5For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. 6If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. 7And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.”
- Matthew 28:6 – “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.”
- Revelation 21:1-6 – “1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” 5He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
- 1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
- 2 Peter 3:9 – “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
- John 14:1-4 – “1“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God[a]; trust also in me. 2In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going.””
- Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Lam. 3:22-23 — The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end,; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
I also like how Lot was called righteous in 2 Pet. 2:7. And Rom. 3:18-22 wher Abraham was considered unwavering regarding God promise when it seemed as though he did waver. And Sarah, in Heb. 11:11, where it is said that she “…received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised.”
I take encouragement from such passages because although these guys clearly demonstrated a lack of faith at certain times in their lives….when all was said and done, it appears as though God overlooked such shortcomings and instead remembers their best.
Could it be that when (and as) God forgives us, he only sees and remembers our “highlights”?

Some great ones here. Lots of my favourites are in Isaiah.
Isaiah 40 v 30-31 Even youths grow tired and weary and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.
Also Isaiah 43 v 1-5 (When you walk through the waters I will be with you…)
I also love the story of Elijah fleeing in 1 Kings 19 and God’s gentle response to his despair and depression.
I see now you wrote this a long time ago. Oh well. Be encouraged 🙂
