Which is More Exciting?

What if I told you think morning that Leadership Journal and the Out of Ur blog wanted to partner with this blog for some future projects? Would you think that was exciting? Or what if I told you the Origins project wanted me to come on board with Scot McKnight and Dan Kimball? Would that be exciting news? What if I told you that this blog was an effort to partner with God in order to make a difference in the world? Which of those three would you find most exciting? Well, the first two aren’t true but the last one is. What is interesting to me is that we all recognize at times that we are partnering with God in our efforts to advance his kingdom. I just think sometimes we view that somehow as a bit smaller of a detail than it actually is. Some how it is quite tempting to think that if we want to “make it big” we have to know certain people, have certain connections, co-author a book with a Donald Miller type, etc. The reality is, if you are partnering with God then you have made it big no matter how much traffic your blog generates or how many comments you get. Those are just small details compared to who we are working alongside and how powerful He is.

You know what is even more amazing? When Christians compassionately and lovingly blog in a way to encourage other Christians and to help those who are lost be found…we are partnering with the most powerful person in the universe, God. That is no small thing. The thing is, we have thought about it so much that the uncommon has become common in our thinking. Hear it again – We are parterning with God in this thing called life! There is no greater partnership than that. There is no greater connection than that. There is nothing more liberating, more death-defying, or more spectacular than to be second author on the book of your life with God as the first author.
