New Lord’s Supper Presiding Record & a Bunch of Thank You’s

Helped by this? Tell a Friend! ---->

Has anyone ever presided over the Lord’s Table more than 4 times (3 times at one service) in one Sunday? If not I may have set a record!

The Lord’s Supper is another one of those things that we have stressed the importance of taking it so much that people think all that matters is that they chew a cracker and sip some juice on Sunday morning. Whether they serve someone, apply the lesson to their life, or are there to worship God has little to do with many people’s Sunday morning attendance. Instead of blasting people who do that let me take a moment to offer some praise.

I want to say thank you to all of you who come Sunday morning to contribute. I want to say thank you to all of you who have grown past a Check-box Spirituality. I want to say thank you to all of you who realize that the Lord’s Supper is about community just as much as it is about Jesus. I want to thank all of you who are mindful of the needs of others, not just on Sunday morning, but those of you who follow up with the hurting throughout the week. I want to say thank you to all of you who eagerly desire to be with your church family on Sunday morning and who realize that the quality of the singing, the sermon, etc is overshadowed by the fact that Jesus is in our midst. I want to say thank you to all of you who go to church without complaining, who build up the preacher, elders, and members in front of your children, and who desire for your children to love God. I want to say thank you to all of you who have remained faithful even though your family has not been on board with Christianity, thank you to all who bring your broken hearts with you to church and to the cross because you know that only through Christ will it ever be put back together again.  I want to say thank you to all of you who realize that you aren’t spiritual superstars (for those of us who think we are haven’t learned the truth about ourselves yet) but who rely on God to make it through each day. If I have missed you, just know that I am thankful just that you are you and for nothing more or less. I love you and God loves you. God bless,

Matt

  1. 6 times buddy! Once with my congregation and then five more times inside the White County jail pods.

That also means I took the Lord’s Supper 6 times in one Sunday. Is that a sin? 🙂

  2. One time, I was discussing the intoxicating properties of wine and making a spiritual comparison. The lady that did the shopping changed the brand of juice. A bunch of people thought we had become fermenters. It is funny now. But then it wasn’t.
